We apply quantitative research and mathematical modelling across a broad spectrum of fields, including development, sustainability, public health, education, and organisational reform, particularly in settings where rigorous evidence is scarce and the stakes of getting it wrong are high.

Consulting and Organisational Development
For government institutions, NGOs, international missions, and companies facing structural, people, or performance challenges they cannot resolve from inside.
Engagements run two to six months: diagnosis first, then the build, then a documented handover. Every engagement ends with something the client owns and can run without us.
Quantitative Research and Modelling
For anyone whose decisions, programmes, or research need numbers that hold: funders, governments, humanitarians, ministries, companies, academics, and researchers working in the field or from a desk.
Methods stated, assumptions visible, no black box. Scoped studies run from two weeks to six months depending on the problem.
Social Research and Documentation
For funders and foundations who need to know what happened to their money, implementers who did good work and cannot prove it, and universities or education providers working in complex or low-resource settings.
Engagements run four to twelve weeks. We interview, verify, write, and hand over material the client owns outright.
Software and Educational Tools
For education providers, research institutions, and organisations needing bespoke digital tools that solve a specific problem, built to work in the environments where they will actually be used.
Engagements begin with a scoping conversation to define the problem before any build begins. Tools are designed for real conditions, including low-connectivity and resource-constrained environments.

Arrte Ltd is led by Solara Abdelsamie Adam Ali, who brings together nearly three decades of university-level teaching in applied mathematics and stochastic analysis across Sudanese institutions, sixteen years inside a diplomatic mission in Khartoum, and consulting experience with USAID, Chemonics International, DT Global, and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
She is a member of the American Mathematical Society and mentored Sudanese professionals in the diaspora through the OAKNA Foundation.
Arrte Ltd is registered in the UK. Work in Sudan is carried out in partnership with local implementing partners.
This isn't a one-person practice.
Quantitative research rarely stays inside one discipline. Arrte's work draws on a transdisciplinary network of independent collaborators spanning multiple fields, each leading their own team or practice. None are employed by Arrte Ltd; each is engaged on a project basis as the work requires.

Mapping the Invisible: Organisational Capacity Assessment Across Six Sudanese Cultural and Creative Social Enterprises
This paper documents a capacity assessment conducted in April 2021 with six Sudanese social enterprises in the cultural and creative sector, as part of a civil society strengthening programme supported by an international political foundation. Using a three-phase methodology combining a five-day workshop, structured questionnaires, and individual interviews, the assessment mapped each organisation's capacity across governance, human resources, project management, financial management, and external communications.

Alongside paid consultancy, Arrte's founder has spent years on self-funded, community-driven work in Sudan that has reached thousands of families directly. Both initiatives are documented as papers in forthcoming editions of Arrte Review.
Teaching Them How to Fish
A revolving microfinance programme channelling zakat and sadaqa into vocational training and business start-up capital. Over thirteen years, it reached more than 17,000 families, the majority women-led, before the 2023 war halted operations. Rebuilding is underway.
Mobile Clinics, Khartoum Floods
Fourteen weekly mobile clinics run across flood-affected areas of Khartoum during the 2021 flood season, funded entirely through a social network crowdfunding campaign and staffed by volunteer physicians, dentists, biomedical scientists, and pharmacists.
